[CASTING FOR RUSH BAND MEMBER LOOK-A-LIKES AND MUSICIANS FOR A SHORT FILM]
Reader RUSHgeek recently came across a very interesting casting call from Toronto casting agency Jigsaw Casting that was posted to their Facebook group page Wednesday afternoon. It calls for Rush band member look-a-likes ages 15-19 for a short mock-u-mentary film on the early days of Rush. From the description:
You could be featured in an upcoming short film about the band RUSH...
Jigsaw Casting Ltd. is looking for Rush band member look-a-likes and/or musicians in the age range of 15 - 19 yrs of age who fit the following characteristics to be featured in an upcoming short film about the history of the band RUSH. This film is based on the true story of the band. This is a comedic mock-u-mentary that explores the roots of the band, as told by each member. Starring the real Geddy, Alex and Neil as well as comedic actors to play them in their formative years.
Looking for look-a-likes and/or musicians to portray Rush Band members
(Age: approx 15– 19yrs)
• Play bass, guitar, Drums – if you look like any of the members but do not play an instrument, please still submit. (The only character needed to have musical skills is Peart, the drummer)
• Have a 1960's – 70's Band look - long hair is great but do not limit
• Looking for teenage look-a-likes of the Rush band members
(**bassist, keyboardist, and lead vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart who will appear in the film) ...
The shoot is scheduled to occur in Toronto from May 11-18th and Jigsaw Casting is definitely a legitimate casting agency. Now since this also will star the real members of Rush and be completed in plenty of time for the tour, I'm speculating that this might be a short film to be used as part of Rush's stage show for the upcoming Time Machine Tour. Knowing the theme of the tour and Rush's fondness for humorous tour videos as part of their shows, along with the upcoming release of the Rush documentary on DVD, television and possibly theaters this summer, I would not be surprised at all if this has something to do with the tour - it all seems to tie together too well to be coincidence. Even if this short film has nothing at all to do with the tour, it's still notable since Rush itself seems to be involved. It's more food for speculation if nothing else.
