Sonic Reality is a company that samples, programs and develops sound libraries and software for sound companies, keyboard manufacturers and recording artists. According to a posting from Sonic Reality CEO/Producer David Kerzner (screenname Squids) at the KVR Audio forum the company recently completed a Neil Peart drum sampling session engineered by Nick Raskulinecz with the end goal being the creation of a Neil Peart Studio Profile similar to what the company did with drummers Bill Bruford and Bun E. Carlos. The profile will most likely include a complete sample of Neil's Snakes & Arrows DW kit and his V-drum sounds and possibly Neil Peart loops. What this all means is that for around $79 you will be able to purchase professionally-recorded sampled sounds from Neil's kit that you can use with music software on a computer or plug them into keyboards or electronic drums. The session took place last month in Los Angeles at Nick Raskulinecz's studio and the final product is scheduled to be released by the end of this year. There's a lot of cool little tidbits in the forum posting, so I suggest you read the whole thing (Andy O has a nice little summary over at his website). Many, many thanks to Andy O for the information.
