Envy of None's Alex Lifeson and Maiah Wynne were guests on the most recent episode (#180) of the Kscope Podcast to talk about the band's new Stygian Wavz album, Rush and more. Stygian Wavz released a month ago and is now available for purchase. Here's Alex discussing the origin of the name Stygian Wavz:
... this came from David Steinberg. He made the suggestion for the name of the band - Envy of None - and it comes from an essay that Ovid [Roman poet] had written. There's a reference to the Stygian waves which are the turbulent waters at the gates of hell on the river Styx. And we like to think that there's a way to navigate those waters to calmer waters - we hope. It really kind of reflects on what's happening in the
world and maybe in a more micro sense that we're all going through stuff all the time and we're all trying to find peace and we're all trying to find that calmness. And I think it was quite important for us to finish the album with that kind of thought in mind - something that's very positive out of the chaos. That's what the song is all about ...
