The double vinyl reissue of Alex Lifeson's 1996 solo album Victor officially releases TODAY, nearly 30 years after the album's original January, 1996 release. The reissue - also available on CD - includes 4 bonus instrumental tracks that have been available for listening on AlexLifeson.com since late 2021; Kroove, Banjo Bob and Serbs were released together as the Lerxst Demo Archives in August, 2021, and Cherry Lopez Lullaby was added later that year in October. This is the first vinyl edition of the album to be released, and the reissue features the original album, completely remixed by Alex personally, offering significantly enhanced audio quality specially prepared for this release. You can order the album on Amazon at this location (or on CD here) or other online retailers. Geddy Lee has also re-released the 2019 Record Store Day vinyl version of his 2000 solo album My Favorite Headache. This version mirrors the RSD release, and include the same 2 bonus instrumental tracks from that edition. You can order it on Amazon here.

Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford was recently interviewed for LifeMinute.tv to chat about the band's latest studio album, and at one point Editor-In-Chief Joann Butler comments that the first song on the album ("Panic Attack") reminded her a little bit of Rush. Here's Halford's response (thanks BraveWords):

... "Hey, that's so cool that you picked up on that, you know. When Richie (Faulkner) sent me some of the files, I thought of two things. I thought of the Turbo album, because it has a little bit of a synthesizer reference, guitar synth reference to the Turbo album. And I also thought of 'Tom Sawyer', so and I thought, 'can we do this?' Hey, we're all massive Rush fans. We love that band. So, if it's a little bit of an homage, and a bit of a tinge of a reference, hey that's good. You do whatever you need to do to get the best moments out of a song." ...

Canadian indie rockers The Rheostatics posted a very interesting photo to their official Facebook page earlier this week. The photo shows the band along with Rush's Alex Lifeson with a caption reading, We gathered in THE MUSIC ROOM for a few days , and made some amazing new music. ... Sounds promising. More details as they become available.

Bassist Jeff Jones - who was Rush's original, short-lived bass player before Geddy Lee was recruited - was recently interviewed for DustyDiscsRadio.com, and spoke at length about Rush, Alex Lifeson and more. You can check it out online here (thanks RushFanForever).

Sammy Hagar took his Best of All Worlds tour to the Budweiser Stage in Toronto last week, and posted a video of some pre-show shenanigans in the dressing room with members of Green Day. At one point they huddle up and put their hands together, and pay homage to Rush and Geddy Lee. You can watch the video below or on TwitterX (thanks Paul D):

On the latest episode of Rush Roundtable (#239) on the Rushfans YouTube channel, the panel continues their discussion of Vapor Trails with Secret Touch:

Tomorrow, August 10th is the 50th anniversary of the Mercury Records release of Rush's debut album. Happy 50th!! That's all for this week. Have a great weekend!!
