Neil Peart, parts manager

Thu, Aug 21, 2008@9:54AM | comments removed/disabled

For those of you who know a little about the early history of Rush you are no doubt aware that before Neil Peart was known as a drum god he was Neil Peart, parts manager. After an unsuccessful eighteen month stint as an aspiring drummer in London, England back in the early 70s Peart returned to his hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario and worked for his father selling tractor parts at Dalziel Equipment. Reader Dino sent me some scans of a Dalziel Equipment newsletter from 1973 which includes pictures of both Neil and his father Glen. You can see the full-size scans by clicking on the thumbnails above. If you want to know more about this part of Neil's life and his earlier years, read Neil's 2004 autobiography/travelogue Traveling Music.
