Rush's Countdown to wake up Space Shuttle crew on May 24th

Sun, May 22, 2011@7:16PM | comments removed/disabled

UPDATE - 5/24@8:53PM: I received an explanation via the CHROMEY Facebook page where the news had originated over the weekend. It looks like the Countdown wake-up call has been postponed 1 day until Flight Day 11 due to that fact that astronaut Mike Fincke is preparing for a spacewalk today and he will not be available to listen to or respond to the song. The new time is Wednesday, May 25th at 6:54pm CDT. We'll try this again tomorrow!

UPDATE - 5/24@8:09PM: Oops. It sounds like somebody was misinformed! The wake-up music was definitely not Rush's Countdown... it was Matchbox 20's Real World. :(

A one-minute, edited clip of Rush's Countdown from 1982's Signals will be beamed to the Space Shuttle Endeavour this coming Tuesday, May 24th - which happens to be Victoria Day in Canada (the historical date - Queen Victoria's actual birthday, not the official Holiday). It will be played as the wake-up music for the Shuttle crew, specifically at the request of Mission Specialist Mike Fincke at approximately 7PM CDT and you can watch it live on NASA TV at this link. It will also likely be included as part of the Flight Day 10 highlights to be shown around noon on the following day. This is the final flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavour (mission STS-134) and the second to last Space Shuttle mission (STS-135 will be the last and is scheduled for July). Thanks to Andrew Olson and CHROMEY for the heads up. Here's the video for Countdown:
