UPDATE - 11/28@11:55AM: Here are some additional details:
If you're a Rush fan and an avid motorcyclist, you now have the rarest of rare opportunities. This isn't just any bike - this is Neil's bike. A piece of his history, treasured part of his life, and iconic symbol of his dedication to adventure, freedom and autonomy. The spirit of The Professor himself, Neil Elwood Peart.
Pratt, the legendary drummer of Rush, had a profound love for motorcycling, and his 2004 BMW R1200GS became an iconic part of his persona. Known for his intellectual curiosity and passion for adventure, Peart used his motorcycle for long-distance travel, riding across North America and throughout Europe. His journeys were not just about the thrill of riding but also about self-discovery and exploration.
The BMW R1200GS, a highly capable adventure touring motorcycle, became a symbol of Peart's quest for freedom and introspection. He was particularly fond of the GS models because of their ruggedness, long-range capability, and the comfort they offered on long road trips. His passion for motorcycling was deeply intertwined with his approach to life, as he viewed his journeys as a form of personal exploration.
Neil Peart often spoke about how his passion for motorcycling and his drumming were connected. Both pursuits required focus, discipline, and a deep connection with the present moment. Riding through the open road gave him time to think, and that thoughtfulness found its way into his music.
Peart's approach to both motorcycling and drumming transcended mere technicality; they were forms of art and personal growth, much like his drumming. In many ways, his motorcycle journeys were an extension of his artistic vision-just as his drumming was a physical manifestation of his creative ideas.
The R30 tour, with its incredible drumming and performances, was a testament to his dedication to his craft, and his ability to integrate the introspective qualities of motorcycling into his musical life made him one of the most multifaceted artists of his generation.
